Lazy Won't Cook My Dinner

My favorite holiday, and I'd rather go back to bed. I had it all planned out, my little ham with glaze, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, honey carrots and more, but the energy to make it is just beyond my grasp. I miss the good old high school days where teachers would never dream of giving out homework for the week and all I had to do was help set the table before 3 and a feast would be laid before me. *sigh* I blame biology for this. But fortunately, if I push through, biology will put a damper on my holidays ne'er again. Maybe if I stretch forward my grasping fingers I can get a hold of enough energy to make at least half my meal. I am truly thankful for precooked hams...

New Venture

We're going on our first cruise ever to the Bahamas. I'm really psyched because those people in the cruise commercials look like they're having just the best time ever! I'll get some sun on my UV and Vitamin D deprived face and do the beach thing. I think The Man is mostly excited about the never ending smorgasbord that awaits, and I really can't deny that I'm just as enthusiastic about eating ALL DAY LONG! (like Thanksgiving on a boat) I feel a large maalox mixer may need to be the ending to our vacation.

Adding to List of Favorites

The other night we decided to try something new so we went to The White Chocolate Grill. Every part of our meal was good. We started with the Rotisserie Chicken Tortilla Soup which had a very Mexican flavor. The Man had the Mardi Gras Jambalya, which was good but was nothing compared to my Citrus-Soy Glazed Salmon. It was probably the best piece of fish I've ever had. Then we finished everything with the White Chocolate Banana Cream Pie. This was a million times better than your average banana cream pie. If you happen to live in IL, CO, or AZ I highly recommend you go give it a try.

9-9-9

The movie 9 is out in theatres TODAY!!!
www.9themovie.com

I'm really geeked about seeing this. I've been counting down the days since I saw the previews during Coraline in March. Although that's still not as long as I've been counting down to see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland which will be released in March of next year...

Itemizing Itineraries

I'm officially starting my flexible learning biology class; one of the last three classes I need for my degree. Flexible learning means I don't have to go to class, but I pretty much have to be my own teacher and make sure I turn everything in before December 15th. I have no fear though. It'll be nice make my own schedule and I do work well under pressure so who knows, maybe I won't do anything until December 1st. Unlikely. If anything I hope to get much of this out of the way before my 2nd class starts at the end of October. If I do well, then this semester will be two classes down and only one portfolio-class to go. I can really start to see the end of this school road and I can't wait for it to be done!

Pepto-bunny

Stretched in the sun, a young rabbit lay along the cool dirt. Day after day, for a week this sight could be seen, and every day the small creature looked more and more miserable...

That's what you get for eating all of my iris, JERK!!

Selling Crap

We had our very first garage sale this weekend.  I've been to garage sales before, hoping to find something useful.  Mostly tools of some sort, but I'm not an avid goer.  This was my first time on the other side of the table, and it was weird.  Selling the stuff you obviously don't want to people that probably won't want it either after they get home.  The Man, of course, is a natural seller.  He's extremely personable and was talking our stuff up like he'd been doing it forever.  So we made a pretty good team.  I kept the table looking neat and attractive and he sold the hell out of it.  The plus side is we sold the two crusty grills that one, we haven't cooked on in a year, and the other came with the house.  With these went our 10+ year blue chairs (sorry Mom, but now they belong to some lady from Kenya) and my old stereo.  The down side is most of what we were trying to get rid of were my clothes and one look at me told any of these busty ladies that they would not be fitting in my old blouses.  Next time we have a garage sale, I'm stuffing my bra and wearing baggier clothes.  Not that it'll be anytime soon.  Everything left over from this weekend is getting donated, so we'll be ready for our next sale in about 7 years.

Stormy Notice

I'm amused at all the things technology has brought us. All these wonderful applications are available to keep us up to date with the world. Earlier today the sun was out and shining brightly. But since I've been on the computer, a little gadget on the top right of my screen has informed me that the trickling and thundering sound I hear outside is a storm, most likely with thunder.

Upon further investigation, a view of the street which is 3 feet to the right of my desktop gadget confirms that it is indeed storming with thunder outside. It's a good thing such a gadget exists. I might have gone into a panic thinking a large hungry monster was peeing off my roof. Phew! I'm glad that's not the case!

Counting Down At 3, 2, 1

THREE MORE CLASSES LEFT!
I was starting to doubt I'd ever see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am currently studying up on old highschool math skills to pass a placement test for the last gen-ed class that I'll need. Hopefully this Fall Semester I'll be taking two classes before I take the final Portfolio class for Spring. Hopefully I'll be able to find the original files for my old, old, friggin old project that will need to be redone. And here's hoping to easy updating since my first projects where done in one the first photoshop programs ever made. Holy cow, I've been doing this forever! But I'll be glad to go back and perfect the things I didn't have time to do the first go around.

Oozing

That's right. The creative juices have been oozing. I took this ooze and poked it a bit to see what it would do. It resisted at first, but after a while I was able chisel out a mold and squeegee most of the ooze into it. I baked it for 1 hour at 350 and look what came out. Here's a quick how to:
Step 1: Start by scanning Robot Cousin

Step 58: undo undo undo redo...nope, undo

Step 157: Save as jpg and apply as wallpaper. Hooray!

Patience Is A Virtue

Missing E Saga: Song IV

Oceans apart day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line
But it doesn't stop the pain

If I see you next to never
How can we say forever

Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

I took for granted, all the times
That I though would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now

Oh, can't you see it baby
You've got me goin' crazy

Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

I wonder how we can survive
This romance
But in the end if I'm with you
I'll take the chance

Oh, can't you see it baby
You've got me goin' crazy

Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

Anticipation

Missing E Saga: Part IV

There is no finer torture. We have been anticipating today for over three months only to find out that really it's tomorrow we are anticipating. The Man went to his appointment today and turned in his waiver, but the packet is not available for pick up until tomorrow. Then we'll know for sure what kind of time-line we can expect for him to come home. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts, positive thoughts...

Forty-Four Days

Missing E Saga: Song III

Forty-four days since I've kissed you, but only three more days until I kiss you again!

The way you're bathed in light
reminds me of that night
god laid me down into your rose garden of trust
and I was swept away
with nothin' left to say
some helpless fool
yeah I was lost in a swoon of peace
you're all I need to find
so when the time is right
come to me sweetly, come to me
come to me

love will lead us, alright
love will lead us, she will lead us
can you hear the dolphin's cry?
see the road rise up to meet us
it's in the air we breathe tonight
love will lead us, she will lead us

oh yeah, we meet again
it's like we never left
time in between was just a dream
did we leave this place?
this crazy fog surrounds me
you wrap your legs around me
all I can do to try and breathe
let me breathe so that I
so we can go together!

love will lead us, alright
love will lead us, she will lead us
can you hear the dolphin's cry?
see the road rise up to meet us
it's in the air we breathe tonight
love will lead us, she will lead us

life is like a shooting star
it don't matter who you are
if you only run for cover, it's just a waste of time
we are lost 'til we are found
this phoenix rises up from the ground
and all these wars are over

over, over
singin' la da da, da da da
over, come to me
singin' la da da da, da da da
come to me

Commercials Are Awesome

Missing E Saga: Part III

Watching too much TV results in interesting discoveries...

You have ONE new message.  To play your messages press 1.  BEEP

"Hey man, this is Chuck, from studio 8.  I saw you filming that Twix commercial today and it was really great.  I just love the way you put so much emotion into the word 'awesome' and, well I'm producing a commercial for AT&T next Tuesday and I really think you're the guy for the job.  We've got a great polo already picked out for the main character and I think you'll like it.  So, anyway if you're interested, give me a call.  Thanks.  Bye."

One week later...

Happy Anniversary!

Missing E Saga: Song II

KÀ is the Cirque du Soleil performance we saw for our anniversary last year. So far this is my favorite Cirque that we've seen and I thought it only fitting to reminisce over one of their songs.

Reach for me now,
I'm here alone for you.
All that i want,
is your warm hand in mine.

Whisper your name,
please let me hear your voice.
Don't drift away,
come hold me in your arms.

I'm yours forever,
your all I'm searching for.
Don't let the storm take you away far from shore.
Cry out my name,
I want to hear your voice.
All that I need is your gentle hand in mine.

Reach for me now,
your all I'm longing for.
Don't let the storm take us far away from shore.
All that I want is your warm hand in mine,
Don't drift away.
Come and hold me in your arms

Hitting the Bottle

Missing E Saga: Part II

I know it sounds cheesy, but I really am missing my other half. The Man and I learn a lot from each other, and definitely have certain strong points and knowledge the other doesn't. Wine, for example. Knowing that there exists red wines and white wines and some pinky ones in between is the extent of my expertise. The Man, however, has that sophisticated knowledge of what wines are best and does that swirling thing in his glass before delicately tasting his wine. I don't care for wine and I don't usually drink it unless we're out to dinner and a bottle is being ordered anyway. Even then I still prefer a Cherry Coke.

What I do care for is butternut squash risotto. I happened to have said squash and risotto and a really great recipe and decided this could occupy a good hour of my time and feed me for almost a week. But this recipe requires a cup of dry white wine. This item did not make it to my shopping cart as wines don't state on the bottle their dryness cuz you're just supposed to know. Pbbbt. Fortunately I found a bottle of Starling Riesling in the fridge, and whereas I don't know how it classifies as 'dry' it was definitely white which fit half the criteria.

But here came another problem: I've never opened a bottle of wine before. I tried a couple times, but for fear of breaking the bottle I've always passed the task on to The Man to take care of. But it was just me this time. If I couldn't have the right wine in my risotto I was determined at least to get this other wine in there. Unfolding the corkscrew, I twisted the spiral down into the cork and was pleased that I managed a straight-down twist.

But pulling a cork out is really, really hard! Perhaps if my corkscrew wasn't so anti-ergonomic and bruising my fingers as I pulled I would have had an easier time. I just couldn't get a good grip synchronized with the right angle. Finally I gave up on doing it the classy way I see in restaurants and TV. Sitting on the floor, bottle between my knees and pulling straight up I risked smacking myself in the face for the sake of a good risotto. After much effort a long sqeeeeeeez-pop! released the cork and I was victorious. That butternut squash risotto was delicious and totally worth it! Athough I would have enjoyed it more and 20 minutes earlier with The Man here, I am glad my preserverance paid off and my squash was not wasted.

The Datte Datte You Like to Sing

Missing E Saga: Song I

It's because yeah, it's because I like you very much,
That I'd go, I'd go I'd go, I'd go, I'd go anywhere with you.
It's because yeah, it's because, because I love you so,
That I'd always, always, always, always wanna be with you.
Yes I would. Yes I would!

Say "I love you" to me in the early morning,
I get so very happy and I'm wide awake,
Let's go out together somewhere cycling yeah, cycling yeah la, la, la...
Whenever we meet I feel excited and happy,
You're sure to give me lot's of nourishment and nutrition,
Just like the wakame seaweed and fried tofu in my miso soup.
Just like a snail and a green leaf,
Could there be any better relationship?

It's because yeah, it's because I like you very much,
That I don't care, don't care, don't care, don't care, don't care where we go.
If you hug me, if you hug me, tightly hug me,
our pounding, pounding, pounding, pounding hearts become one.
Become one. Become one!

When you say "I love you" it's like the awesome sun,
Shining brightly after it rains all morning.
As I take a stroll I feel like, hiking yeah, hiking yeah la, la, la...
I'm telling you, you you're just like the morning sun,
Today, and tomorrow I'm exited and happy to see you,
Just like the yellow ginkgo nut in my steamed rice-bowl custard,
Just like the rolled egg omelette in my bento box,
Will this happy relationship continue?

It's because yeah, it's because I like you very much,
I'll always, always, always, always, always follow where you go.

It's because yeah, it's because yeah you're the one I like,
No one, no one, no one, no one, no one, no one else will do.

On a clear night when there are no clouds, let's go outside and count the stars,
As if we were out in romantic outer space just the two of us together.
You know, I really like to feel the warmth of your body next to mine.
In a pleasant dream as we slumber, so that we won't stray away
So that we won't get lost and panic,
Let's sleep while holding hands.

It's because yeah, it's because I like you very much,
I'll always, always, always, always, always follow where you go.
It's because yeah, it's because I like you very much,
That I'd go, I'd go I'd go, I'd go, I'd go anywhere with you.
It's because yeah, it's because, because I love you so,
That I'd always, always, always, always wanna be with you.
Yes I would. Yes I would!

As Sung by Eric Carmen

Missing E Saga: Part I

Waiting sucks. Especially when you know that the moment you are waiting for could be to know that you have to wait some more. The Man is in Mexico. We are finally getting all our things together to work on his citizenship, and it's terrible that the only way he can do it is by leaving. A few months to go and we'll know if we have to wait much longer before he can come home. I have to say I'm quite lonely without him. It makes me blue that my friend isn't around when I come home, or there's no one to wait up for. At least I'm not completely alone. There have been others that have felt the way we do, and wouldn't you know it, they were Friends too.
