Brain Break

I've been resizing many, many photos for one of my projects. I thought I'd give myself a quick pause and share some with you.  I'm glad I've taken to keeping my camera with me at all times or else I'd never gotten these great pictures.

It Would Be So Good...

One day my teachers will learn to be more specific when it comes to project layouts and what product exactly I should be campaigning. If Penny Arcade was suitable for a younger audience I'm sure I'd be enjoying Penny Arcade Cereal right now. Unfortunately I don't think the offer of a free fruit fucker juicer with six proofs of purchase would be a good marketing technique...
I'd so start out my day eating this cereal with TANK!! And then maybe some 70's style karate in a business suit and cliche freeze frames. Hi-ya!

Can Your Husband Do This?

If he can you are very lucky. Especially if he does it mostly so you can take pictures of food for your next art project. If I could take pictures of smells you'd be even more jealous. What you are seeing is a dinner of deliciously seasoned grilled chicken tenders, fresh asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and an orange slice. But don't think that I didn't help at all. I did slice up that orange real nice and arrange everything on the plate...
Careful you don't get drool on your keyboard.

Project 2

Hell's yeah to completing projects on time! I had a lot of fun burning pictures for this project. I may not have had the safety of Jenn's dad and his box of baking soda, but fear not, I did use caution whilst taming the flame. Of course this time I also wasn't burning random things with Jenn at the dinner table which was the reason the box of baking soda was dumped out on our efforts in the first place. Another Hell's Yeah to us pyros!

Procrasti Nation

I am an occupant. I am a civilian. I am the current reigning power. I am a procrastinator. I thought I was doing so well, but nay. I've even managed to fool myself. How did I get here? So far behind all the deadlines I had set before myself. It's a bad character, bad like the smirking shadows that want you smoke a joint in the after school specials. The gateway drug that makes you 'cool' and allows you hallucinations followed by remorse and a new upstanding character full of morale and do-good. The internet is my gateway. "Oh, I must do some research. I bet I'll find something useful on youtube..." Lies.

I have made some progress. Some. I have hopes that I shall wriggle free of this nation in time. I will not be a procrastinater! I will be a procrastinaught! And yes, I'm fully aware of the fact I am being more of a nater than a naught with this very entry. But then again I haven't posted anything all month so with that being said, Happy Birthday to you Virgos and Libras, rest in peace Robert Jordan, feliz Mexico daie de Indepencia, and slightly cooler and more comfortable welcomes to my favorite season.

New Technique UPDATED

The school year has started, and the first projects are underway. One of said projects requires me to use a scanner. I borrowed an extra one from work, but found that it is a piece of crap. I fear it can no longer be used as a scanner. Its only career options in life are a giant, cumbersome paper-weight, or a tool used in stress management techniques. I've been wanting a scanner for years now, so it was obvious that it was finally time. We've added a new Canon to the family and it's really nice. It is also a printer that, when I tested it, I found it is WAY better then my old printer. Ironically enough I had just bought new ink for the old printer. I guess I'll just have to use it for test prints before using the new printer for a final copy.

The first project calls for an 'everyday object collage.' I had a lot of fun playing around and testing out the different effects of scanning. Open lid, closed lid, background, no background, layering... I was quite please with how things were coming out. The image below is now my background. I was going for 'tea party' theme and then as a second thought I changed the colors just a little to make it more vintage. I really do like how it finally turned out

9/6 - "How it finally turned out" was merely how it turned out without cropping, cutting, turning, or tilting. It is also how things were before variations, saturations, moderations, and a filter. NOW I like how it finally turned out. Both versions.

Eye Patch Not Included

I bought a boat. It's the most awesome boat I've ever seen. Anyone can tell you I'm not one for impulse buys, but I had to give in to this one. It's just so cool! A cherry wood boat with pointy metal sails!!! Who wouldn't want to be a pirate on this baby! Unfortunately is it about 50 feet too small for a real boat, but even a real boat doesn't have the awesomeness of this. Can you tell I really like my boat? I miss school, because then I could take it in for show-n-tell. I guess blogging about my Friggin' Awesome Boat will have to do. Arr!

Penelope's Poem

I remember you.
The way you were, sitting in your chair
Across the room from me, that disconcerting stare.
So lonely and distant in your pose.
In your patterned dress with your pointed nose.
“Sit with me,” I said. “I guess you can play, too.”
And so we played together, as children often do.

It’s been so long and now here you are again.
Just as you were from way back when.
My memory had faded from such a long while
But I recognize those eyes and that red-lipped smile
Being there for each other is what family's all about.
I’m really glad you’re here, even though you still creep me out.

Huzzah!

A self portrait of me, because, well I'm fun to draw. And a little poem I posted on someone else's page:

I'm just here wastin space. In your space. On myspace. Some might call me an invader of space. pumpernickel.(^o^)/

Rock On America!

We spent our holiday at Ribfest this year. There were thousands of people at the park. We had spent all day eating roasted corn, funnel cakes, and way too many racks of ribs. The fireworks were awesome. We got two finales instead of just one. "It's not over until we say it is!" I was a little surprised at some of the music selections. Of course there was the National Anthem and a string of John Philip Sousa's most famous marches and R-O-C-K in the USA. Right after Neil Diamond and Ray Charles I was pleased to hear AC/DC's Thunderstruck and the Indiana Jones Theme song. What could possibly be more American than hard rock and cinema soundtracks!! I think my country rocks harder than any other. We're like the lead guitar in the world's band. We're hotter, harder, and almost everyone wants either be us or sleep with us. Those that don't, well they're just too old and can't take the noise. I don't have any decent pictures because my camera sucks at night, but I was able to put up a video of Finale #2 for you to enjoy.

Almost Half

Only five classes left, and I was able to schmooze two teachers into letting me do the work from home instead of basing most of my grade on attendance. My deadline to finish my list of 'while-I'm-not-in-school' stuff will now be here in August instead of January. The bag I'm making is just about done. I think the final cost has moved up from $8 to $14, but that's because I optioned for metal half-moon rings, lining, zippers, and a magnetic snap. Probably could have done with out the last two, but it's so worth it. I'm really excited that I was able to start this project and I'm actually going to finish it in less than a year! I can only hope that the next things on my list move so smoothly, but my free Sim Expansion was delivered yesterday and I was up until 1 AM playing it. To be honest, I don't foresee the next few nights closing in any earlier...

By the way: The Man and I saw WANTED this weekend and it is awesome. I love movies that realistically deny the existence of physical impossibilities.

So Cool!

Linkin Park is awesome. I love their intense music and electric guitars. Whilst searching for music online I discovered that their music works just as awesomely in a more gentler tone. Check out this piano version of In The End!

I'm Sorry, What Did You Say?

I don't like talking about the crap-ness of work when I'm not actually AT work.  So instead I took my day's worth of annoyed energy and used it to amuse myself.  And now you too, maybe.  I guess it is a little grotesque but it could be worse.  I could have a picture of some cuddly wuddly wuv bear that would make you gag.

A Little Brighter

New layout in effect. As much as I liked the dark grey flowers on a black background, it was a little bit of a downer. I'm sticking with close to neutral colors cuz I think they make for easier web viewing. And if you're like me, you've already spent 9+ hours on a computer and by now your rods and cones are starting to wear down. Here's to healtier corneas!

Friggin Month's Worth

The semester is over. Holy crap, this one seemed to last forever. Had it not been for the greatly anticipated realease of the big S.T. I doubt I would have even posted anything last month. What's new this month:

-ONE Two new Sims Games!!! Well not really new to anyone else, but when there's a buy 2 get 1 free deal, you tend to jump on something like that.
-TWO Two new websites!!! My groups had to design a website for two different classes and both of mine were picked. AWESOME. Only quasi-awesome for one, because someone else was programming it so the design totally got changed. But whatev. My polite excuse for it is that the design was beyond the other person's programming skills. That's ok, because I'm figuring out webcode to do the second one according to my 1337 skillz.
-BAGS! Well, one actually and it's still in progress. Unable to find a new bag that meets my standard of size, shape, pocket content, and style I opted to make my own. Thanks to the scrap bins at the fabric stores after buying all materials and parts the total cost is around $8. That's not bad at all even if I have to do it myself.
-BOOBS! I managed to squeeze out $240 in donations for this year's Y-me race. Woot! It was a great Mother's day weekend, even if the race itself was cold and wet. The beautiful day before was spent at Lilacia Park were I got dozens of photos of all the lilacs and tulips in full bloom. The race, being so inconveniently soggy only permitted for a few pictures. It was not uncommon to hear *fwoomp*"MEH!!" every ten minutes when yet another umbrella was blown inside out on an unsuspecting victim. By the end of the day the trash cans on all the corners had at least two busted umbrellas each.

So now I'm reestablishing my relationship with my to-do list so we can get things done before the next semester hits. Hooray! Writing this blog can now be crossed off! So I now leave you with some pictures and the knowledge that spell check does not like sound effects like woot, fwoomp, and meh.

The Burton Collection

YAY! Sweeney Todd day finally arrived! The 2-Disc Special Edition DVD was released yesterday and I now own it. The count down is over and my anticipation is finally put to rest...for now. I made me-self a nice new background for my nice new computer. It's so cool and now it's a little mysterious looking as well.

Squeezing It In

It's been a hectic month. It seems my spring break from school whipped right by with me barely grabbing a wink. But, let us recap before the last couple hours of this month close in.

First off this month, we celebrated Grandma Craig's 90th birthday. I guess them's slim pickin's for 90th birthday card. At least that's what we'd like to say. The reality is that this is not the first time the hallmark-de-ja-vu has taken place... Actually it's kinda frequent in our family.

I saw Wicked with J-chan in the beginning of the month. It was really good, but I'm afraid I've set my bar at Sweeney level so I can't call it singingly awesome. Which by the way I will be adding the great Mr. Todd to my Burton collection before the week is out. And for those of you that don't talk to me every day, be grateful because I've been counting down the days to tomorrow for the last 7 weeks. Ahh, it feels so good to get to number one

And finally we welcomed our new HP to the family. My computer has always been personal, but now it's hot, trendy and 19 beautiful inches of flat screen! ::swoon:: And most likely by the end of next week will be sporting a new Burton Theme.

Next month is already showing a face of hectic as well. I'm excited for my next class project, we'll be making a portfolio website. Wee! I'll be sending off my taxes and reloading my mp3 player. I promise this package I have will have its letter enclosed and be put in the mail. I will cash the check I have from friggin February and I will make sure parting gifts are given at the actual parting, although I'm thinking that won't happen til next, next month. Now that it's staying lighter longer I'm feeling the urge to nap wear off. I'm halfway out of my hibernation robe and into my cleaning gear. If there was a set day for it I'd be counting down until I can open all my windows.

That New Car Smell

"So this looks different," you say. Yes. Yes it does. Don't applaud me too much. I have yet to master the art of html. But for now there are some great websites out there that have already done all the work for me. Yeah. Speaking of work, back to it I go. More to come later when I have time to brag about the new addition to our family of awesomely cool things. I'll give you a little hint, it's personal again...

Out of Order

I've ben sick this weekend. Really really sick. I hate the flu. I hate that my body felt it was ok to trade in all my strength and energy for gallons of phlegm and a 102 fever. Even though the worst is over it is lingering over me. My aches and pains and chest wrenching cough have decided to hang out for a while. I couldn't go to work or school today. But, since I was feeling a little better I worked on my flash project a bit for school. It's still not finished, and I have to make eight more just like it. *Sigh* Not sure I'll be making that deadline.

I wish you could see it move, but I'm too tired to figure that out right now. Maybe I'll come back and fix it later.

Warm Weather Welcomes You

We went to Vegas for our anniversary. It was a little chilly, but far better than the 6" of snow that was falling the night we left. We saw the Cirque du Soleil performance KA'. It was really good. It's the third show of theirs we have seen. You should check out the new photos that are up on the flickr page. We came back late Saturday night to a car buried in snow. It's still snowing actually. The weather here sucks. I was really tempted on Monday to call work and let them know that it had "snowed so bad that we couldn't leave and were still in Vegas and I'll be back as soon as I can." Damn honesty. Getting in the way of me lounging about. But the good part of the snow is my school actually closed it's evening classes tonight so I got a chance to relax a bit. And a lot of almost doing things. And a whole lot more thinking about thinking about doing things.

There is a new link on the page for my music playlist. I didn't put another music player on the blog, but if it looks ok, I might do it later. Besides on the music page you can see the neat background and banner I made. And have awesome background music for all your tasks. I originally made the playlist to listen to at work, but a network of computers sharing a dsl line makes for the playlist to literally load ALL day and never finish. I'm not exaggerating. It was still loading when I closed the page and clocked out.

A New Age

Happy Birthday Blog!!! You're 1 year old today. Haven't we had so much fun? Posting pictures and movie reviews... and the extensive lists of procrastinating. Let's see how much more fun we can have before year 2!!!

Revolution of Resolutions

Hmm...two weeks into the new year so far. Not much to say about it. I skipped the whole resolution thing this year. I have decided to be without a January goal. I was going to say no goals, but that's just silly. I'm sure I'll think of something to strive for. Maybe we'll start small, like going to class even if the weather is crappy, even though it REALLY sucks. School has started again. My endless journey through school. I swear last year I figured that I only had about two years to go, but looking at it again this year, I still have two years to go. What gives? Was I teasing myself last year? Maybe the school is tweaking things around. I'm sure that could be it. They like to do that. I am excited for my web class. I'll be working with flash and have all sorts of fun animated stuff to put here. Or ideas of stuff that'll I'd want to put here, but will have to wait until summer because I'm too busy napping.
